Self-Centeredness.
To be Self-Centered is to Reject God. Self-Centeredness is Making Your Self God.
Colossians 1:15-17 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
This passage reminds us that life is not about us: all things were created by him and for him. Therefore, the phrase all things include us. We are created by God and for God. In other words, we are designed to love and serve God. Anytime we attempt to live outside of this truth we will destroy our self and cause pain to all around us.
Almost every problem we have in life is because we are self-centered: addiction, divorce, hate, abortion, theft, murder, the list is endless. It is because of humankind’s self-centered rejection of God in the Garden of Eden that we have sin, death and decay in the world today. All sin is built on the foundation of self-centeredness and arrogance: I want to do what I want to do and I don’t care what anyone else says.
Obviously, this is not the way to live. No one likes a child acting like a spoiled brat and no one likes a spoiled brat trapped inside an adult’s body. When we as adults are self-centered we are no more than a spoiled child, whining to get our way. In fact, when we act out of self-centeredness, we are telling the world that we are more important than anyone else.
The better way to live is to operate within the parameters that God established for human beings. We must take up our cross, die to our self-centered ways, and allow God to be the ultimate decision maker in our life. This is the most logical thing we can do.
Only a fool would make a decision without consulting the smartest person in the room and God is always the smartest person in the room. Not only that, but God loves us more than anyone else ever will. Everything God does for us is because He loves us. Even when He tells us no it’s because He loves us. God is always for us and never against us. I pray that we will all be wise today and seek God’s leadership in our lives.
To be God-Centered is to Embrace God and Everything Good; It is Saying Yes to Life, Happiness and God’s Blessings.
You are the One God Loves!
